Launched by CHIME in July 2009, “a CHCIO demonstrates the commitment, knowledge, and experience required to master the core skills important for successful CIOs and IT executives,” according to the organization. CHIME members who have been in a CIO or equivalent position for at least three years, pass the 125-question CHCIO examination, and collect 25 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are eligible to become certified. CHCIOs “must be committed to ongoing professional development” and undergo recertification every three years. CHIME also offers CHCIO-Eligible status to those candidates who meet all of the program requirements but lack the requisite number of years of experience as a CIO.
To ensure the CHCIO Program and exam are reflective of developments in the industry, CHIME is planning two Item Writing Workshops in Dallas on May 23-24 where 17 members will produce new questions for the exam.
The next CHCIO Exam is scheduled for Oct. 7 in Phoenix, in conjunction with the CHIME10 Fall CIO Forum. For more information about the CHCIO Program, including exam registration, visit: http://cio-chime.org/chcio/index.asp
