Quality Systems (QSI) — parent company of NextGen Healthcare Information Systems — is acquiring Opus Healthcare Solutions. NextGen Healthcare will focus on providing solutions to hospitals with 100 beds or less. Opus produces Web-based clinical solutions to hospital systems and integrated health networks, and is one of only three’08 CCHIT Certified vendors in the inpatient EHR category.
The acquisition will be integrated with the assets of Sphere Health Systems, which were acquired by QSI in August 2009. Both Opus and Sphere are developers of software and services for the inpatient market and will become part of NextGen, QSI’s wholly owned subsidiary.
Laguna Hills, Calif.-based Sphere Health Systems is an application software development and consulting firm. NextGen acquired the company’s SPIRIT ENTERPRISE product — a HIS that includes applications for patient management, decision support, financial management and human resources.
