Join us for our first Tweetchat! #hsciochat
Please join us Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. (EDT) as healthsystemCIO.com hosts our first Tweetchat. Our featured panelists — Lee Milligan, MD, VP & CMIO, Asante; and Janae Sharp, founder, Sharp Index, and principal consultant, Coherence Medical — will share their thoughts on Physician Burnout and the Health IT Leader’s Role.
Through an interactive discussion, Dr. Milligan and Sharp will explore the key factors that contribute to burnout, how it impacts both patients and physicians, and what health IT leaders can do to help mitigate it and improve clinician satisfaction.
The topic hits home for both panelists, as Dr. Milligan spent several years as an emergency physician, and spearheaded the launch of Asante’s Physician Builder program to help clinicians become more involved in its Epic implementation. He sits on the Governing Board for Asante, as well as the Oregon ACO, and has written several pieces on the role leaders play in delivering solutions that help, rather than hinder, clinicians, and the keys to implementing a solid EHR training program.
An expert in health IT marketing and communications, Sharp is Principal Consultant with Coherence Medical, and founder of Sharp Index, an organization dedicated to reducing physician suicide and burnout through awareness and anonymous peer support, as well as better EHR tools. Sharp is also a survivor of physician suicide, having lost her husband in 2015. Through education, she hopes to help “heal the healers.”
Through this TweetChat, we want to explore this topic and learn what some organizations are doing to create a better, safer work environment for the people who care for patients.
Below is a list of the topics that will be discussed:
- What are the key factors that contribute to physician burnout?
- How are patients impacted by physician depression and burnout?
- The EHR blame game – is there some merit to this, or is it a step backward?
- How can health IT leaders help prevent burnout?
- What are some organizations doing to help mitigate it?
- What do you hope to see going forward?
