Between the “primitive design” plaguing many EHRs and the high potential for error with patient-entered data, ensuring data quality has become a mountain for healthcare leaders. But with the right approach, there are ways to improve it, according to our speakers.
For clinical and IT leaders, the most important goal is to “act as a strategic partner” when approached with an opportunity, and identify the right technology that can be a force multiplier, said David Kaelber, MD, CMIO at MetroHealth.
“The EHR is like the nervous system of the healthcare system,” said David Kaelber, MD, CMIO at MetroHealth System, during a recent interview. “With everything that our board or CEO wants us to do better, there’s a role for my team in doing that.”
