Edward Marx, SVP/CIO at Texas Health Resources, has been awarded CHIME’s fourth annual State Advocacy Award.
Marx is being recognized for his “active involvement in CHIME StateNet and his commitment to the growth and success of state-wide initiatives to further the advancement of health information exchange and health IT adoption in his home state of Texas,” according to the organization.
“I am honored to receive this award from my peers,” said Marx. “As the healthcare industry enters a period of great change, it is more important than ever for CIOs to get engaged in the public policy process.”
As a founding member of StateNet, Marx has been an active leader helping to develop the online and offline network of CIOs and other health IT stakeholders who are working to enhance communication and foster statewide coalitions on important matters related to the HITECH Act, CHIME stated.
The CHIME State Advocacy Award was created to honor a member for their demonstrated leadership at the state level in educating policy makers on the value of HIT towards improved patient care.
