A new Interim Final Rule from the DEA’s Department of Justice on Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances specifies the guidelines healthcare providers will need to follow in order to electronically prescribe controlled substances. Since the DEA published the NPRM; ONC, CMS, AHRQ and other HHS staff “have worked closely with DEA to develop the policies in the IFR,” which will be available for comment during the 60 days after its official publication in the Federal Register on March 31.
