The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body, has begun a 60-day public review of key components for its HIE accreditation program. All comments and feedback will be reviewed and additional revisions incorporated into the final criteria, version 1.0, tentatively scheduled for release this summer.
The HIE accreditation program will assess technical performance, business practices and organizational resources of entities that seek accreditation. Those interested in participating may visit the criteria page on the EHNAC Web site.
A separate set of policies, more specifically addressing privacy and security, are still being developed by an EHNAC convened HIE Advisory Board. EHNAC anticipates these policies will be available for public review during the second quarter.
EHNAC continues to seek additional beta candidates for its HIE accreditation program and encourages interested parties to monitor its initiatives on the EHNAC Web site.
