IBM Snaps Up Initiate

IBM is acquiring Chicago-based Initiate Systems, a provider of data integrity software for information sharing among healthcare and government organizations, for an undisclosed amount. IBM plans to “support and enhance Initiate’s technologies while helping clients take advantage of the broader IBM portfolio,” and will integrate Initiate with its Information Management business after the closing, expected before the end of Q1. Initiate’s software facilitates access to patient and clinical data. The company’s healthcare clients include Sutter Health, Ochsner Health System and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
