John Glaser, CEO, Health Services Business Unit, Siemens Healthcare, Podcast Chapter 3
With just under a year at the helm of Siemens Healthcare, it’s fair to say John Glaser has taken full measure of life on the vendor side. As such, he’s been immersed in issues like deciding which products are “go-forward,” which customer segments are best suited to the vendor’s offerings, and which industry regulations will […]

John Gaede, CIO, El Centro Regional Medical Center, Podcast Chapter 3
Fast and easy are two words only the uninitiated would use to describe a core clinical HIT system selection, and John Gaede is certainly not one of them. That’s because Gaede recently went through the rigors of crafting a vision, finding partners and hitting the market. And hit the market he did, scouring not […]

PODCAST: One-on-One w/H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute VP & CIO Mark Hulse, Chapter 2
CIO roles in different industries, of course, differ vastly, but those within healthcare also have some unique attributes. But they also share some benefits, which, according to CIO Mark […]
KLAS: Soarian Rising
After years of struggles, Soarian has achieved a pointed increase in clinical adoption and 9 percent jump in customer satisfaction, according to a new KLAS study. Customers described improvements in Siemens’ service and product quality, deeper clinical adoption by physicians and nurses, and better interfacing with Siemens’ pharmacy system. While still “far behind” market leaders […]
PODCAST: One-on-One w/PinnacleHealth System VP & CIO Steven Roth, Chapter 3
After years on the consulting side of healthcare, Steven Roth made the jump to provider CIO by joining PinnacleHealth. And while he knew the organization had outsourced its IT shop to Siemens, Roth wasn’t aware of the “depth and breadth” of the agreement until he finally had a chance to read the fine print. As […]
PODCAST: One-on-One w/University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center VP & CIO Lynn Vogel, Chapter 3
While just about every CIO in healthcare can be described as intelligent, only a handful deserve to be called wise. One of those is undoubtedly M. D. Anderson Cancer Center’s Lynn Vogel. And Vogel is not the kind of CIO to keep all that wisdom to himself. As such, he’s an active educator in both the university and industry spheres — the latter as an instructor in CHIME’s popular CIO Boot Camps. To learn more about Vogel’s take on the trends roiling healthcare — and his work at MD Anderson — healthsystemCIO.com editor Anthony Guerra recently caught up with the Texas-based CIO.
Who Says Meditech Isn’t Flexible?
As my hospital converts to more corporate applications, my Meditech system has become more interoperable. The folks at Meditech have been incredibly supportive of a very complex systems agenda at our site. A few weeks ago we went live with Siemens Soarian Financials and Scheduling, feeding our Meditech clinical systems. This two-year implementation was part of a corporate Soarian project and our hospital was the first site. The design is simple. Soarian Financials generates a “master” ADT feed to a “submerged” Meditech admissions module.
