In 2016, John Mason opted to leave the CIO post and bring his 30-plus years of experience to a new venture, OakHorn Solutions, a consulting firm designed to help organizations fill leadership positions. Most recently, he held the CIO role at Hill Country Memorial, an 86-bed community hospital based in Fredericksburg, Texas. Prior to that, he was CIO at St. David’s Healthcare and HCA’s Central and West Texas Division, where he helped St. David’s earn the 2014 Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award. Mason’s career also includes time spent with a national consulting firm, and several years as a captain for the U.S. Army. He has served as keynote and guest speaker, guest lecturer and adjunct professor at various conference, university and college venues, and is founder and president of the non-profit Path of Hope Foundation, Inc.
