Since 2012, Brian Thomas has been CIO for Swope Health Services, a patient-centered medical home that provides primary care and behavioral health services to more than 40,000 patients in western Missouri and eastern Kansas. At Swope, he has been instrumental in developing a strategic plan, and implementing interoperability and data sharing through bi-state connections with three regional HIEs. Thomas has led process improvement initiatives that have helped the organization realize nearly $1 million in cost savings. Prior to his time with Swope, he was Infrastructure Delivery Director with Ascension Health Information Services. Thomas is a founding Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Trustees, a member of CHIME, and a Board Member of the Heart of America Healthcare Information Management Systems Society.
