Partners HealthCare CIO John Glaser has been named CEO of Siemens Healthcare’s Health Services Business Unit, effective Aug. 16.

In his role, Glaser will be responsible for leading Siemens’ global healthcare IT business, including product development, strategy, portfolio management, financial performance, and overall customer satisfaction.

Glaser takes over for Tom Miller — CEO, Workflow & Solutions Division, Siemens Healthcare Sector — who filled the role on a temporary basis after Janet Dillione left the company to join Nuance.

Glaser recently finished a stint as senior advisor to ONC as it formed rules stemming from the HITECH Act. Since 1995, Glaser served as VP and CIO of Partners HealthCare, directing IT for an organization of 10 hospitals, 7,000 physicians, and 45,000 employees, including a team of 1,300 IT professionals.

He is founding Chair of CHIME, past president of HIMSS and has served on multiple industry boards. Most notably, Glaser received the 1994 John Gall CIO of the Year award, and CHIME has established a scholarship in his name.
